Bodies - Colorobbia Galestro
For ten years our company has been producing GALESTRO clay, which has become very popular with customers for its unique characteristics.
The finished product is the result of a perfect combination of the characteristics of the clay and our unique process based on controlled, constant procedures.
Skilful shaping and firing naturally play an important role.
Our bodies originate from one of the most scenic areas of Tuscany, situated between the Crete Senesi, the Città del Tufo and the Maremma, at the border between the provinces of Siena, Arezzo and Grosseto.
The clays we use are unique to this special ecosystem, where they have been found for time immemorial.
The historic nature of the deposits is testified for example by the description of the walls of Roselle, an important Etrusco-Roman city that flourished in the 7th century BC and is situated within the modern-day archaeological park: “The ancient walls are made of polygonal blocks of sandstone with an external layer of large (cyclopean) blocks, an internal layer of smaller roughly-hewn blocks and an internal filling. The material used is of local origin, comprising limestone rock, sandstone, quarry hewn galestro, sometimes still recognisable immediately inside the city.”
To further guarantee the quality of the products manufactured using our clay, we have registered the brand name.
As of 28 April 2004, the brand name is protected by Registration number 003801024 at the Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market of Alicante.
This brand name guarantees that the clay used originates exclusively from the deposits quarried by us and processed using methods that guarantee consistent physical, chemical and particle size characteristics.
This guarantee can obviously be adopted by customers in dealing with their own clientele, but naturally only customers using our body will be authorised to use our brand name. The brand name is therefore the sole guarantee of the origin and processing method of our body.
ETRUSCAN CLAY
Derives directly from Galestro body.
It has a characteristic new dark colour achieved by the addition of natural pigments.
As in the case of galestro clay, the body has passed the frost resistance tests established by UNI EN 202 over 25 cycles with temperatures of between +15°C and -15°C.
